1. BiOS, Inc. Permissions Policy
BiOS encourages the free, and open dissemination of information. However, as gathering the news and articles contained in our publications, on our websites, and in our e-mail newsletters requires substantial effort we expect to be fairly compensated for any reuse of the material contained herein.
2. Fair Use
Permission to make digital or hard copies of part or all of any BiOS web page, print page, or e-mail newsletter exclusively for personal or educational use is granted without fee, provided that copies are not made or distributed for profit or commercial advantage and that each copy bears the full copyright & license notice as stated below, as well as the company URL. Electronic copies shall include a link to the original version on the corresponding BiOS web page in addition to the copyright & license notice. Copyrights for components of the reproduced work that are owned by those other than BiOS must be honored. Abstracting with credit and accompanying URL is permitted and encouraged.
BiOS does not grant any rights other than the limited permission given herein and subject to such obligations. All rights are reserved, including reproduction, distribution, public performance, and public display rights. At no time may an original work be modified without the written permission of the author(s). Violations of this policy will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
3. Commercial Use
For all instances of intended commercial or non-educational, non-personal reproduction, please contact BiOS at the address below. All commercial use of our information will either be paid for by means of a licensing fee (to be negotiated) or in kind (which we prefer). In all cases, we will request prominent links or buttons or banners on the licensee's website or e-mail text for electronic use, or full credit and statement of our URL for print use. As a matter of professional courtesy, BiOS may consult the author (for jointly authored works, the first author) in assessing requests from third parties for permission to republish. However, responsibility for securing the necessary authorization for any author rights or related rights from other right-holders remains the responsibility of the requesting party.
4. Web Links to Our Site
BiOS encourages other website operators and distributors of electronic text to include links to original BiOS websites. For persistent links (for example, including one of our URLs in a list of "Hot Links" on another website), we request the courtesy of a notice prior to doing so. Links may only be made to TOP LEVEL domain names. Links to any other level, commonly known as "deep links," are not permitted.
5. Links to Third Party Sites
Links embedded in BiOS websites and e-mail messages may take you to websites operated by others. These linked sites are not under the control of BiOS, and BiOS assumes no responsibility for the contents of any linked site or any link contained in a linked site, or any changes or updates to such sites. Any such links are provided as a convenience only, and the inclusion of a link does not imply endorsement by BiOS of the site nor any commercial relationship with that site.
BiOS, Inc. makes no representations about the accuracy of the information contained in the documents and related graphics published on any BiOS website or in any BiOS e-mail newsletter or print publication. All such documents and related graphics are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. BiOS and/or its respective suppliers hereby disclaim all warranties and conditions with regard to this information, including all implied warranties and conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
In no event shall BiOS and/or its respective suppliers be liable for any special, indirect, or consequential damages, or any damages whatsoever, resulting from loss of use, data, or profits, whether in an action of contract, negligence, or other tort action, arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of information available from this or any other BiOS website, print publication, or e-mail newsletter.
The documents and related graphics published on this server, or published in print format, could include technical inaccuracies or typographical errors. Changes are periodically added to the information herein.
7.1. Personal Information Law
BiOS is in compliance with the Law Concerning Protection of Personal Information (the "Personal Information Protection Law") and all other applicable laws and regulations regarding the handling of personal information, and therefore only acquire and use personal information by legitimate means.
7.2. Purpose of Use of Personal Information
BiOS, Inc. will use the personal information we acquire for one or more of the following purposes. Except where permitted under the Personal Information Protection Law or any other relevant law or regulation, we will not use an individual's personal information for any purpose outside of those listed below, without that individual's prior consent.
- • Conducting BiOS's business matching services. Personal information may be shown to BiOS's client companies for business matching purposes only if an individual company wishes to receive business matching service;
- • Sending (by mail, fax, e-mail or other means) articles and other information we deem useful to the receiver, such as notification of fresh media, seminars and other events, company news etc;
- • Responding to inquiries; and;
- • Any other purpose incidental to those listed above.
7.3. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
In general BiOS, Inc. does not supply personal information to third parties. However, where a joint online project may have been conducted, then any supply of such information will comply with the Personal Information Protection Law and all other relevant laws and regulations regarding the provision of personal information to third parties.
7.4. Safekeeping of Personal Information
BiOS, Inc. will handle all personal information in an appropriate manner, and put in place proper measures to prevent the disclosure or loss of, tampering with, or damage to, any personal information in our custody, through the implementation of operational procedures and IT security policy.
7.5. Access Log Information
Our web servers collect access logs containing the following information: viewer's domain, IP address, type of browser and time of access. This access log has been marked as non-identifiable, which means that there is no reasonable way for the site to identify the individual person this data was collected from. This data may be used by us and our agents for the following purposes:
- • Web site and system administration;
- • Research and development of web site usage;
- • Anonymous user analysis;
